Proverbs 18:21, Proverbs 10:20, Proverbs 15:4, James 3:10, Proverbs 18:4, Proverbs 16:24, Psalm 34:13, Proverbs 21:23, 1 Peter 3:10
Speech (The tongue) is an awesome gift from God. However, we so often take this gift for granted and abuse an ability that ought to be guarded and used to the glory and praise of God.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” (Proverbs 18:21)
The power of speech is a privilege. However, with this privilege comes responsibility, and responsibility brings accountability.
Do not be Careless with your words – not giving sufficient attention or thought to avoid errors or harming others.
Do not be Reckless with your words – not thinking or caring about the consequences of an action.
Do not be Irresponsible with your words – not caring about what might result from actions taken.
Our tongue can be used to do good, and it also can be used to do evil, but only God can help us use our tongue to do good.
