God is not just a Sunday God; he’s an everyday God. However, many today traditionally look to acknowledge or seek God only on a certain day of the week, or at certain times of the year; consequently, church attendance is at its peak on Sundays, Easter, and Christmas. Not only do many just acknowledge God seasonally, but also circumstantially. For example, when a tragedy affects their home, family, or health, you may find many seeking and acknowledging God in a way that they never have before. Yet, when the situation or matter is improved, and their lives return to a sense of normalcy, they resort back to their previous routine of life, and God is forgotten. God deserves better than that. As a matter of fact, God deserves our best. Certainly, investing some time into your relationship with God is better than no time at all. But serving God is not just a casual visit, or a friendly acknowledgment; it is an everyday, lifetime commitment.
Every day, the faithfulness of God’s mercy and love wakes you up to see another day, protects you from seen and unseen danger, strengthens your body, gives you the thinking capacity to dress yourself, and gives you the ability to accomplish your desired task for the day – (Lamentations 3:22-23). If you think that all of these things happen on their own, you are mistaken; because it is God that allows YOU to make things happen in your life! God gives you everything that you need to sustain life daily, but what do you give God in return? Can you invest more time going to church (not just on Sundays, holidays, funerals, or weddings) to praise him, worship him, and learn how to serve and please him by receiving his Word? Can you give back to God, in tithes and offerings, a portion of what he has blessed you with? Can you live a life of holiness that pleases and honors God? When you recognize how blessed you are by God on an everyday basis, the question should not be “can you” but “I will!” Our response to God’s everyday provisions should be like the Psalmist’s response in Psalm 116:12-13: “What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.” Jesus what can I give unto you?
If God would only extend his love, mercy, grace, and compassion toward us on a certain day or at a certain time of the year, we all wouldn’t be here today. As a matter of fact, it was on a certain day that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, and three days later rose from the dead, to provide us with an opportunity to receive forgiveness of our sins and salvation for our souls. Not only does God meet our natural needs, but more importantly, he meets our spiritual needs daily as we diligently seek him, faithfully serve him, and humbly submit to his Word. Many are missing out on a deep and intimate relationship with God by only seeking him conditionally, casually, or only when a need arises. Jesus Christ is so much more than just a babe in a manger, or a problem solver, but he can become your everyday joy, everyday friend, and everyday strength. We need God every day and he desires that we seek, and serve him daily. So seeking God seasonally or circumstantially is not enough; Jesus Christ is worth celebrating every day!
Amen, Amen👏🏾🙏🏾. “Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before”.
